Approvals
Our customers increasingly require industry-standard approvals from independent certification bodies that confirm the suitability, dimensional accuracy or safety of a product. SERTO offers the following written approvals.
ABS approval
The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is a leading classification company in shipping.
DNV approval
DNV is an independent foundation established in 1864 and is a leading international service provider. DNV has certified the stainless steel compression ferrules SO 50001.
DVGW approval
DVGW stands for Deutsche Vereinigung des Gas- und Wasserfaches e.V. (German Gas and Water Industry Association) and is based in Bonn. It is the world’s oldest technical and scientific association, and has been active for its members for over 140 years.
IRIS certification
SERTO meets the quality requirements for design, development and manufacture of railway components in scope 19 according to ISO/TS 22163:2023.
SVGW approval
The SVGW is an association of gas and water utilities as well as interested parties from business, research, science and administration.

Authorisation for the transfer of marks for the purpose of identification of materials on semi-finished products or components
Lloyd’s Register Stainless Steel
Approval for stainless steel from Lloyd's Register: Lloyd's Register Group Limited is an independent technical organisation for risk assessment, risk management and system certification worldwide and is based on London.
Lloyd’s Register Brass
Approval for brass from Lloyd's Register: Lloyd's Register Group Limited is an independent technical organisation for risk assessment, risk management and system certification worldwide and is based on London.
Manufacturer approval fusion welding
SERTO meets the standard quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials according to EN ISO 3834-3.
ISO 9001
The SERTO Group has been ISO 9001 certified since 1994. Thanks to this certification, we have optimised all our business processes and can therefore respond quickly and effectively to your requirements.
ISO 14001
Since July 2021, all European companies of the SERTO Group have been certified according to ISO 14001. We are proud that our many years of endeavour for a sustainable environmental policy can be documented with this certificate.
ISO 15085
SERTO AG has been certified in accordance with EN 15085-2 since March 2022. The certificate attests that the welding of rail vehicles and vehicle parts fulfils the requirements according to the classification level.

EU REACH Chemicals Regulation
Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH Regulation) – regulation regarding the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of CHemicals in order to better protect humans and the environment against risks.
RoHS Directive
Directive 2011/65/EU – Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS Directive)
Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
SERTO AG confirms that the starting materials of all components in contact with media for products listed in the SERTO catalogue comply with the listed FDA regulations.
Conflict minerals
SERTO guarantees that it does not use any materials that contain raw materials that could be considered to be conflict minerals in accordance with the American Dodd-Frank Act.
Explosion Protection Directive (ATEX)
As a major supplier to the European machinery and equipment industry, we are regularly asked for statements on the conformity of SERTO products in accordance with Directive 2014/34/EU (known as ATEX).
Pressure Equipment Directive and CE marking
The European Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU came into force on 19 July 2016 and has thus gained legal character in the EU area. SERTO unions are not subject to the CE marking obligation.
PAH content
Since 1 April 2008, the GS mark has included a test for PAHs, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The plastic unions provided by SERTO do not fall within the scope of the regulation.
POPs Regulation
Regulation 850/2004/EC – Provisions for contributing to environmental protection and protection of human health, including the environmentally sound recovery and disposal of products or articles containing persistent organic pollutants (organic compounds).
4MS Initiative
Suitability of brass unions for drinking water within the framework of the 4MS Common Approach and the 4MS Positive List for Metallic Materials (4MS Common Composition List).
California Proposition 65 (CP 65)
California Proposition 65 (officially the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, Section 25249.8) is a law enacted in 1986 in the US state of California to promote clean drinking water.
TSE/BSE in accordance with EMA/410/01
Confirmation based on the guidelines of the Official Journal of the European Union (EMA/410/01).
Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) was adopted by US Congress in 1976 and entered into force in 1977.
Declaration of performance for construction products
The Swiss Construction Products Act (ConProdA 2014) of 21 March 2014 and the Swiss Construction Products Ordinance (ConPO 2014) of 27 August 2014 regulate the conditions for placing and making construction products available on the market.
Dual-use goods
Dual-use goods are products that were actually manufactured for civilian use but could also be used for military purposes. SERTO products do not fall within this category.
US/OX/SI services - cleaning and lubrication
Some fields of application for our tube unions and valves are subject to strict cleanliness requirements. SERTO therefore offers the following options:
- US cleaned in an ultrasound bath, not lubricated
- OX cleaned in an ultrasound bath, lubricated for oxygen systems
- SI cleaned in an ultrasound bath and lubricated silicone-free for use in combination
with paints and varnishes

Declarations of conformity within the meaning of Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 can be issued on request for corresponding SERTO products.

Test Certificate
Stainless steel tube fitting with EC79
The SERTO tube fittings made of
stainless steel in sizes 6 to 12 mm fulfils the requirements of Regulation (EC)
No. 79/2009 (EC79) for pressure ratings up to 35 MPa (350 bar).
Aluminium Test Certificate
The SERTO compression fittings made of aluminum in sizes 8, 12, 18 and 28 mm meet the test standards according to DIN EN ISO 9227.
