Apprenticeship as a design engineer EFZ
Job description
As a design engineer, you develop and design individual parts, assemblies or complete devices, machines and systems. This may involve optimisation, modernisation or new developments. These are usually based on specifications, requirements and requests from customers or in-house engineers. Every development has functional, production, quality and cost requirements that a designer must take into account. You define important dimensions and tolerances for production in the CAD drawings.
"As a VET designer, you will be given the opportunity to devise your own solutions and carry out improvements. At the end, you will have a finished product in your hands. This varied job also provides a solid foundation for further training."
Your vocational trainer at SERTO
Stefan Hofer, Engineering Project Manager
What we require from you
In addition to good results in maths and geometry (Level E), you should enjoy and take an interest in technical things and working with a PC. You have a good imagination and are quick to understand technical processes.
We also require you to have a healthy curiosity, a precise and clean way of working, pleasant social manners and the desire to pursue something from start to finish.
Education at SERTO
As a designer-in-training at SERTO, you will develop components and smaller assemblies for tube screw fittings and assembly aids, working alongside your vocational trainer or the appropriate project manager.
You will create 3D models in CAD and use them to create drawings for prototypes. You will also be responsible for technical descriptions and documentation and for testing in our internal test and experimental workshop.
